Hello, I am Esther Rhodes
"Photography is the essense of capturing light."
While I've been a nature photographer for as long as I can remember, I have been a portrait photographer for nearly a decade. Starting out by taking photos for friends and co-workers, I found my passion. Over time I have studied and grown my skills to what they are today.
I love to capture the natural moments of life and find the hidden treasures of time.
I hope to share my passion with you, by pausing THIS moment in YOUR journey and to create a memory to hold for a lifetime...
What is my inspiration?
A singular moment.
"A picture is worth a thousand words". But if you take 1000 pictures, the words lose their meaning.
This is my favorite photo of me from my childhood. Every time I look at this picture my childhood fills all my senses. I can tell by the plastic around our porch that this was a warm spring day. Warm enough for me to have no coat on without my mom trying to make me wear one. Those red pants, oh those red pants! I absolutely loved those red pants (my mom had to fight to get me to wear anything else). I'm also wearing my boots, so I know it's still a bit muddy. You can see me trying to jab holes in the lid of a jar so that my new caterpillar friend has somewhere nice to live before becoming a moth. I'll give him leaves from our gigantic lilac bush that is behind my mom who's taking the picture. I know it'll be a moth, because they were always moths. It even brings back the musty smell of a jar full of leaves that died over the course of weeks while waiting for the chrysalis to open. This is my childhood in a singular moment and it will always be the one I treasure most.
This is what I want to give back to the world. Those memories that fill our senses from one moment.
So wear the outfit you love even though you know it won't be in style in 10 years. Go to that special place where all your favorite memories were born. Capture who you are now, today, so that in the years to come, this photo will spark the thousand memories surrounding this singular moment.
Let's create a moment worth a thousand memories.
